"ARMADILLO RACING" is a racing game released by NAMCO LIMITED (current Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.) in 1997.
Control an armadillo that rolls as it picks up speed, and head for the finish line through obstacle courses filled with unique events, or sprint courses designed for pure racing enjoyment. Finish in 1st place and you can enjoy a fun bonus game, too!
The “Arcade Archives” (ACA) series is developed with the concept of faithfully reproducing classic arcade games, staying true to its original.

What’s more, with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support, the gameplay can be reproduced even more accurately, closer to the original arcade experience.

SPLIT SCREEN MODE
With “Arcade Archives 2 ARMADILLO RACING” SPLIT SCREEN MODE, you can choose between 2 or 4 screens for local multiplayer on a single console. For Nintendo Switch 2, you can also play in “TV Mode” or “Tabletop Mode.” Gameplay functions in this mode are the same as in ORIGINAL MODE; however, features like save/load, rewind, screen layout, and display frame settings are unavailable.
SPLIT SCREEN MODE (2 screens)
In SPLIT SCREEN MODE (2 screens), 2 players can play the game together! To play with 2 players, please connect two controllers to the console. The first controller’s display is shown on the left, and the second controller’s display is shown on the right.
SPLIT SCREEN MODE (4 screens)
In SPLIT SCREEN MODE (4 screens), up to 4 players can play the game together! To play with 4 players, please connect four controllers to the console. The first controller’s display is shown in the upper left, the second controller’s display in the upper right, the third controller’s display in the lower left, and the fourth controller’s display in the lower right.
How to Start Local Multiplayer
In the English Version, each player can join the game by pressing the INSERT COIN button 4 times on their own controller, then pressing the START button. * In the Japanese Version, pressing the INSERT COIN button during the opening demo will bring up the entry screen. Other players can also join the game by pressing the INSERT COIN button during the entry period.
Attention
Players who join during the entry period can play together in local multiplayer. However, if no other players join within the time limit, local multiplayer will not begin. Players who do not join a local multiplayer session during the entry period will instead play in single-player mode.
Course Selection
There are 2 types of courses: “Sprint Race” where you simply enjoy racing through the course, and “Obstacle Race” where you aim for the finish line while clearing various obstacles. The player who enters first can choose which course to play.
